The Office on Missing Persons (OMP), established by the Office on Missing Persons Act No. 14 of 2016 is an independent Office and the first of the reconciliation mechanisms established by the State. The tasks of the OMP as provided in the Act broadly includes tracing the whereabouts of the disappeared, provide redress to victims and families of the missing and disappeared during different periods of conflict and political upheavals in the country. It is also tasked with the responsibility of forwarding recommendations for non-recurrence to the Government.
The OMP is currently in the process of commencing its operations and establishing its office. The OMP invites applications for the following positions, Initially on a short term contract. which may be extended at the discretion of the Board:
Duration of Contract: 6 Months
Competence and Experience:
• Those forwarding applications are urged to recognise the sensitive nature in relation to interaction with the families of the disappeared and missing and the need to fully participate in tasks of OMP.
• Those already in Public Service or the Provincial Public Service and retired public servants may also apply. Those applicants from the public service should forward their applications through the respective Heads of Department.
• Ability to speak in all three languages would be an added qualification
Salaries and other emoluments
The monthly emoluments would be based on the salaries and cadre regulations as may be applicable to the respective positions
