Recruitment of Two Individual Consultants for the Air Quality Health Impact Assessment

A comprehensive understanding .of air pollution and its health effects is necessary to develop policies to control emissions of pollutants and reduce health risks. In this light, the Ministry of Mahaweli Development of Sri Lanka in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) has imitated a project entitled Air Quality Assessment for Health and Environmental Policies to strengthen the knowledge base and to support the development and implementation of evidence-based policies in ambient air quality and health. This project is expected to achieve following objectives:

1. Enhance capacity to strengthen and use data and information to assess air pollution levels

 

2. Support development of evidence-based policies on air quality and health

 

3. Bring together knowledge from environment and health domains

Under this project, the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment will carry out a detailed assessment of the evidence base on air quality and related health issues in order to review existing national action plan on air quality and related legislation and to identify policy interventions to minimize health impacts. The Ministry invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services for the two consultancy assignments below.

 

Two consultants will be selected for the two assignments through comparison of qualifications of eligible candidates in accordance with the procedures set out in the Guidelines for Selection and Employment of Consultants, published by the National Procurement Agency. Consultants who meet the eligibility criteria above will be invited for the interview.

The application form and the detailed TOR’s for the assignments are available at the Ministry website: www.environtmin.gov.lk. Interested consultants must forward their applications according to the format given with information about educational qualifications and experience, description of similar assignments as well as the expected consultancy fee. Further information could be obtained at the address below from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on working days.

Applications must be delivered by hand or by registered post to the above address to be received by 6 April 2018. The title of the assignment for which the consultancy services are offered should be clearly indicated on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
