EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES JAPAN FOR SRI LANKAN YOUTH
A Memorandum of Corporation was signed between Sri Lanka and Japan on 19th June, 2019 in Tokyo under the aegis of H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and with the direction of the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, and with the auspices of the Hon. Harin Fernando — Minster of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports and Hon. Takashi Yamashita — the Minister of Justice of Japan.
Under the Memorandum, suitably skilled Sri Lankan youth are eligible for employment in the following categories:
• Ship building and ship machinery industry • Aviation industry • Electric, electronic and information industry • Manufacture of food and beverages • Fishery and aquaculture • Agriculture • Construction industry
• Industrial machinery industry • Machine parts and tooling industry • Care workers • Building cleaning management • Automobile and repair maintenance • Accommodation industry • Food service industry
• 10 year visa • Sri Lanka vocational system will be upgraded to Japanese competency standards • Competent workers will be upgraded to the professional category in Japan • Industry experts in the above sectors will visit Sri Lanka to scrutinise vocational training systems • Attractive remuneration packages, and work environments instilled with proper labour protection laws.
This employment scheme which operates under the patronage of the Government is open to Sri Lanka Government endorsed agents only.
